Bring Back My Google Watchlist is a free browser extension that adds a watchlist to Google Search. This page explains what it stores and where. In short: without signing in, nothing leaves your browser. If you sign in to sync, only what's needed to sync your list is stored, and you can delete it at any time.
Without signing in
- Your list (titles, years, whether each is a movie or show, when you added and watched it, and poster images) is stored only in your browser.
- To recognise movie and TV pages, the extension reads the Google Search pages you open. To fill in missing posters and years, it occasionally loads the Google page for a title on your list, from your own browser. None of this is sent to us.
- The toolbar window checks this website for a newer version (
version.json). That request carries no information about you.
If you sign in to sync
Signing in with Google lets the same list appear in all your browsers. When you do:
- From your Google account we receive only your account ID and email address. We don't get your password, contacts, search history, or anything else.
- Your list (the details above, including poster images) is stored on the sync server so your other browsers can get it.
- A sign-in session is created for each browser. Only a scrambled (hashed) form of it is stored on the server.
The sync server runs on Cloudflare (Cloudflare Workers and D1), which stores the data on our behalf.
What we don't do
- We don't sell, rent or share your data with anyone.
- There are no ads, no analytics and no tracking.
- We don't record what you search on Google. Only the titles you choose to save are synced.
Deleting your data
- Synced data: in the extension's toolbar window, while signed in, click Delete synced data. This removes your list, your sessions and your account record from the server straight away.
- Data in your browser: remove the extension from your browser's extensions page.
- Or email kaizar.raja@gmail.com and we'll delete it for you.
Google user data
Bring Back My Google Watchlist's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. The account ID and email are used only to sign you in and keep your list in sync.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date. The source code for the extension and the sync server is public on GitHub, so you can check exactly what it does.
